Well it's a bumper crop of a week on the Controversial Memoir front. We have James Frey interviewed in Vanity Fair (that is, if you can get past the Miley Cyrus hullaballoo) and Augusten Burroughs in New York (on the occasion of his newest memoir).
I'd go on a bit about these two stories, but I admit to feeling rather weary of the whole memoir controversy, as we've covered this ground at great length.
However, in parting, The Hinterlands would like officially to state that it never, ever, ever again wants to see an article on memoir bring up JT Leroy. The books by "JT Leroy" (that is to say, Laura Albert) were NOVELS written by a middle-aged woman pretending to be a young man. OK? Everyone got that?
